1st-Nov-2009 11:21 pm - Happy Birthday to me!
broadway!
It's eighteen minutes past midnight so I can say Happy Birthday to myself!  Yay!

Anyway, had a good weekend.  Went to a Halloween party on Saturday night and got quite sloshed what with shotgunning my first beer, having a couple of marvelous mixed drinks, some shots and losing at beer pong.

Mom came up with the new boyfriend Ray and he is so good to her.  He has this look of adoration whenever he looks at her.  Ray also seems like a very nice man and I guess he was very nervous about meeting me.  I will have to talk to mom tomorrow to find out what the verdict was and whether any of his nerves were cleared up after meeting me.

For my birthday mom also brought up a pan of her awesome lasagna with Texas toast.  Nom nom nom.  For dessert originally she was going to bring up pie but she did not have time.  Instead we ended up going to the Cheesecake Factory and had some glorious cheesecake.  We all sampled from the others' plates and it was well worth it.  Mom had Lemon Raspberry, Ray had the Pumpkin Pecan and I had the Apple Caramel Strudel.

As for gifts mom bought me a really cute skirt from Penney's and the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy movie three pack.  It will help add to my bad Karl Urban movie collection.

So all in all, it was a good weekend!  ^___^
26th-Oct-2009 12:43 am - Big Pimpin: White Collar
big pimpin!
I watched the pilot episode of White Collar today and I may have fallen a little bit in love.  I love shows where the two leads have fantastic chemistry, and throw in the fact that one of them is a fantastic con artist and the other is the FBI agent who caught him, it's like they made something just for me.

The characters are fantastic, the actors even more so.  USA is once again bringing its A-Game when it comes to stellar programming.  Definitely something to fill in the hiatus that will start soon with my other shows, not to say that I would not watch it normally because once again a show that almost seems tailored to my taste, but a good fill in just the same.  What is also awesome is that the pilot is up for free downloading on iTunes at the moment.  You have to search for White Collar but it brings that and a preview for next week's episode up.
22nd-Oct-2009 11:05 pm - The Vampire Diaries
dumb is good!
Yesterday I watched five episodes of The Vampire Diaries.  Today I started to read the books.

...

I might be slightly obsessed.  Goddamn you horrible TV and horribly amusing Young Adult novels that are badly written!  I shake my tiny fist of rage at you while I laugh at your attempt at prose!

Also, Ian Somerholdar, I'm glad that you are finally able to be in something where you won't get killed and are a main character!  You're a star baby!

Pensive Jen is hot!
Have been a little absent from LJ of late, which is by no means an indication that I have been absent from the interwebs, I just haven't been posting on here.  Instead I spend most of my time on FaceBook and Twitter.  Lame, yes, I know.

After much ranting and screaming and the dragging of feet I have finally succombed and watched the third and fourth season of Supernatural.  Well, skimmed the third season and totally devoured the fourth all because of a little angel called Castiel.  Goddamn do I kind of love him a lot.  And it only grows as the fifth season moves along.

Also, Misha Collins, Castiel's actor, is one of those rare gifts of fandom that make me smile and glee and squee.  He has an amusing Twitter!  He wears lederhosen and gives us photographic evidence!  He's intelligent!  There's pictures where he's giving himself a yogurt smoothie facial!

Note to self get Castiel icons, your SPN icons are lacking in Misha/Castiel gooooodness.

I also sent to go see AFI the other night with [info]alicia250 and it was most awesome.  They have definitely been in the business for a while and now where their strengths are.  They played a good mix of their older stuff and the new, I am totally digging the new stuff by the way and Crash Love is fantastic, and we were totally jazzed that they ended the night with Miss Murder.

The opening band, Gallows, was decent.  A little bit more of the hard then I am used to, Screamcore from Britain, but the music itself was great.  Crunchy guitars, great basslines and awesome drums made me bounce a little on my feet and bob my head along.  The lead singer was pretty cool in that he got down in the pit with the mic and laid down some ground rules.  He then proceeded to do the rest of the show from there, controlling it with a semi-iron fist.

I felt kind of bad for the lead though when with the last song, after he had climbed back onto the stage, he proceeded to start coughing.  You could tell that it wasn't a good thing because he then stared at his hand a little.  It turns out that he had coughed up some bloodclots and had to leave, though he did try to finish the last song but just could not.  Hope the dude is okay.

Stephen's looking hawt in that thar dese
I saw Chicago today at Shea's.  I give it a B.  Velma's voice annoyed me and they didn't do anything spectacular with the cheorography, but overall enjoyable.

I'm starting to miss SPN.  I'm tempted to try and force myself to try and get past the beginning episodes of season three so I can catch myself up.  I should probably make that decision soon though so I don't fall too far behind in season five.

I just ate sacriligious Rice Krispies.  They were huge and supposedly multi-grained.  But they were not too bad in the taste department.

The nu!Trek fandom remains awesome, same with Primeval.  The only complaint I have is I wish people would write more of the stuff that I like!  /whine

Stephen's looking pretty and angsty!
I watched Krod Mandoon and it was okay? Nothing fantastic, but somewhat entertaining.  It did get a few guffaws out of me, but nothing worthwhile.

I have a new fannish love and it's called Primeval.  It has dinosaurs and sabretooth cats and scientists running around in the past and awesomeness!  My favorite character is Stephen Hart, he of the perky nipples and general all around competency with guns and tracking and AWESOMENESS.  And we all know how I love me some competent men.  Second in the love is Professor Nick Cutter, he of the Scottish accent and adorable little boy smile and determination and hunches that are generally right except when it comes to women.  They have a very, very close relationship for a Professor and his research assistant.  And then there is Abby who is just awesomely kick butt and competent too and I wish I could pull off her awesome haircut.  And, after that is Connor, who, well, I do not really adore at all but kind is amused by once and a while.  Though, I really don't think I'm supposed to grit my teeth and want to punch him hard when he does some of his "cutesy" antics.  His whinging about guns in particular made me crankypants.  Maybe he'll grow on me?

Also, the icon is Stephen!  Looking angsty and pretty!  Yay!  Now to find ones where he's holding guns.

kaal's eyes are relevant to my interests
A bit ago I enjoyed a meal that was rather trashy in its ingredients but tasty nonetheless.

It was boxed macaroni and cheese, with frozen peas mixed in with bits of leftover chicken.  I think, if I were to ever recreate this surprisingly tasty dish, I'd not cook the macaroni and the peas together.  I am glad that I have leftovers for tomorrow because I am looking forward to eating it.

Look at my icon!  Look at the wonder that is Karl-Heinz! I bet this took a lot longer then you expected didn't it? Before I Karl-Heinz GIPed you.

how YOU doin?
I have come to the conclusion that Karl-Heinz Urban is a most beautiful man.  Especially when covered in blood.  Or, you know just breathing.  That certainly is something he's gorgeous at too.

GI Joe was a travesty of a movie and if I could somehow do so, I'd get my time back.  The CGI was horrible, some of the worst I've seen in quite some time.  The acting was atrocious with a few exceptions, mainly Chris Ecclestion, and the fight scenes between the Snake Eyes and Stormshadow were badly done simply because they did not now how to shoot them properly.  Close-ups of arms and chest is not the way to go fellas. And don't EVEN get me started on some of the things that they did to the characters.

In conclusion, my dear FL, Karl-Heinz.

I need to get some Karl-Heinz icons.

how YOU doin?
Dear Karl-Heinz,

Stop making me watch bad things starring your talented, and extremely attractive, ass.  This is not making my life any easier.  Though, thankfully, this one is on You-Tube and has you wet, mostly nekkid, and bleeding a lot of the time.

What can I say, I am a simple girl with simple pleasures when it comes to you.

Jess.
