hawkgirl smash!
I'm angry.  No, I do believe I'm past even that at this point, I'm livid, something that I really don't get to be very often.  Oh, I reach the annoyed level on the meter at times, but this, I'm so pissed off I'm seeing red.

I'm a pretty low-key, laid-back feminist.  I don't get my panties all in a bunch over something that may get others all twisted.  However, the fact that this even exists appalls, sickens, and disheartens me all at once.  The link, dear FL, is to someone's post with pictures of the new Mary Jane Watson-Parker statuette that Marvel is releasing through Sideshow Collectibles.  It shows MJ bent over, looking over her shoulder coquettishly, thong hanging out, hand washing Peter's costume.  Should I also mention that she's wearing provocatively ripped jeans, a pearl necklace, a shirt that is barely containing her breasts, and is barefoot.  There is also, suspiciously and rather glaringly, no sign of her wedding ring.

What makes it even worse, is that people have made comments on the Sideshow message board for this statue that were not in a "Oh, wowzer she's HAWT" mentality and they were deleted from the board.  As of right now, the most damning message on there is a post that can be paraphrased into saying that the person will not be purchasing that particular piece because they do not believe that it actually showcases the artist, who the statue was modeled off of, actual style.

On the LJ that I linked too, where I first heard of this atrocity, there are several pieces of important information.  Some of which is the contact info for Sideshow Collectibles, as well as ways to get a hold of Marvel Entertainment to make ones displeasure heard.  Believe me, it's going to be well used because there are many out there who are as enraged by this as I am.

It's stuff like this that's why, though I kinda like comics, I stay way the hell away from most comics fandom. The stupid in the comments, it burns.

we are artificially puritanical...if we changed our views on the female form then we might not be having this discussion.
